CPEC Journey

  1. The CPEC Memorandum of Understanding is signed on 5 July, establishing the corridor's formal cooperation framework.

  2. Early-harvest cooperation moves the corridor from framework planning into major energy and transport delivery.

  3. The CPEC Long Term Plan 2017–2030 sets out the programme's longer development horizon.

  4. Major assets continue entering service, including the operational Karot Hydropower Project, as the 11th Joint Cooperation Committee reviews progress and wider cooperation.

  5. Suki Kinari Hydropower and New Gwadar International Airport join the growing portfolio of completed CPEC assets.

  6. PIDW26 focuses the disputes community on operational contracts, dispute avoidance, and the claims that can follow completed construction.

As the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) enters the mature stages of project delivery and operation, a new phase is beginning: the resolution of disputes arising from $100 Billion infrastructure and investment economic corridors.

Complex questions of contract administration, delay, variation, payment, claims, adjudication, dispute boards and arbitration are increasingly becoming relevant across CPEC projects. For the international arbitration and dispute resolution community, this creates an important opportunity to engage early with the market and the stakeholders who will shape the next phase of CPEC dispute resolution.
